Product definition missing

The product definition missing work queue facilitates data compliance for events that are missing product master data. This work queue identifies events that reference a product that is not registered in Transparent Supply and provides you with a recommended resolution.

Enabling product definition missing

You must be entitled to the Transparent Supply application within the Supply Chain Intelligence Suite to access the product definition missing work queue. Organization administrators who are also assigned a Builder role can enable work queues for your organization.

To enable the product definition missing work queue, complete the following actions:
  1. Click Builder from the side menu, then click Work queue builder.
  2. Click the Sample tab.
  3. Select the Product definition missing checkbox.
  4. Click Activate.
    Note: After you activate this work queue, you might experience a delay before the list of work items is populated in the work queue.

Viewing work items

You can access the work queues that you are entitled to and have enabled within the Control Tower menu.

To get started, click Work queues in the side menu. A list of the queues available to you is displayed.

When you click Product definition missing, a list of work items is displayed. Each work item represents a product ID that is not registered in Transparent Supply but is referenced in one or more events that were uploaded by your organization.

An example list of work items for the product definition missing work queue. For each work item, the product ID, total events, first event, latest event, product owner, recommended resolution, assignee, and status are displayed.
Within the list, you are able to quickly view, sort, and filter by important information about your work items:
  • Product ID
    The product ID that is not registered in Transparent Supply but is referenced in events.
  • Total events
    The number of events that reference the missing product ID.
  • First event (date)
    The date of the earliest event that references the missing product ID.
  • Latest event (date)
    The date of the most recent event that references the missing product ID.
  • Product owner
    The organization that owns the product.
  • Recommended resolution
    The suggested action to resolve the work item, based on the system's analysis of the product ID.
  • Assignee
    The name of the person who is assigned to the issue. Click the Overflow menu (
    Overflow menu icon
    ) to assign yourself or leave notes for your team to view.
  • Status
    The Supply Chain Intelligence Suite automatically assigns a status based on actions that are taken on the work items. You can also update the status at any time.

To view more information about the events that are referencing a missing product ID, click the product ID that you are interested in. You are provided with recommended resolution and additional details about the events.

Resolutions

You are provided with a recommended resolution based on the system's analysis of the missing product ID.

The system analyzes the product ID and recommends a resolution for each work item. The actions that you can resolve a work item with are described in the surrounding text.
You can resolve the work item by completing one of the possible actions:
  • Register the missing product
    If the product is owned by your company, you can register its definition with Transparent Supply.
  • Contact the product owner
    If the product is owned by a different organization, you must contact them to register the product in Transparent Supply and request access.
  • Update the product reference ID
    If the product ID needs to be updated, you should correct it in the data upload method you used to prevent it from happening again.
  • Ignore these events
    If you don't want to take action on these events, click Ignore these events. The events are removed from this work queue, but not from the system.

Additional details

The Additional details section provides you with more information about the events with missing product references.

Within the Events with missing product references widget, you are provided with the number of affected events. For each event, you are provided with the event ID, event type, business step, event date, business location, origin, and destination.

Within the Additional details section you can view the following information:

  • Event ID
    The event ID that is referencing a missing product ID.
  • Event type
    The type of EPCIS event that is referencing a missing product ID. For example, Transformation.
  • Biz step
    The business step that the event occurred at. For example, Packing.
  • Event date
    The date and time that the event occurred at, displayed in the format YYYY-DD-MM hh:mm. For example, 2022-03-10 13:51.
  • Biz location
    The business location that the event occurred at.
  • Origin
    The location that the products are sent from, for event types that include shipping.
  • Destination
    The location that the products are sent to, for event types that include shipping.
