Prerequisites

About this task

In this task, you install your components and features locally by using the IBM Installation Manager user interface.

Procedure

  1. Add the location of your file repositories in Installation Manager.
You can see which disks contain your product components at the end of the Obtaining the installers topic.
    1. Open Installation Manager.
    2. In the Preferences menu, add the paths to the repositories.
    3. Click Apply, and then OK.
  2. On the Installation Manager welcome page, select Install.
  3. Select the installation packages that you want to install, and then click Next.
Tip: To use the Decision Center samples and tutorials, you must install both Decision Server Rules and Decision Center. The samples and tutorials are managed in the Samples Console, which comes in Decision Server Rules.
  4. Review and accept the terms of the license agreement, and then click Next.
  5. Specify a package group name and an installation directory:
    1. Select an existing package group name or create one.
A package group name is a directory in which product packages share resources with other product packages in the same group. The default package group name is Operational Decision Manager 9.6.0.
    2. Enter an installation directory path.
The installation directory is where you install the product components.
    3. Click Next.
  6. Select the product interface languages to install, and then click Next.
A language pack is installed for each language that you select so that you can start Eclipse in the locale for these languages. English is the default language and is always installed.
  7. Select the product features that you want to install, and then click Next.
  8. Complete the page on the common configurations:
Note: Installation Manager tells you which versions to install. You must decompress the download files. When you select a component, open the decompressed file and select the folder for the component. The installer looks for the component and its files in the selected folder.
    • For Decision Server Rules and Decision Center:
      1. Under Java™ (JDK) Location, navigate to your installation of JDK 21. (You can download a JDK 21 from IBM Semeru Runtimes Downloads External link opens a new window or tab, where you might have to use the Version drop-down menu to open the list of Java 21 versions)
      2. Under Eclipse Location, navigate to your installation of Eclipse 4.38. (You can download Eclipse 4.30, which is also named Eclipse IDE 2025-12, from Eclipse IDE 2025-12 R Packages External link opens a new window or tab. Use at least Eclipse Modeling Tool External link opens a new window or tab or Eclipse IDE for Enterprise Java and Web Developers External link opens a new window or tab.)
      3. Under Liberty Server Location, navigate to your installation of WebSphere Liberty (for example, <IBM_InstallDir>/wlp), and then click Next.
      4. Select your license type, a purpose for your installation, and the unit of measurement for your license, and then click Next. (For information about license types and the units of license measurements, see Licensing.)
  9. Review the summary of the features you are about to install, and then click Install.
  10. When the installation completes, click Finish.
