Software requirements

Before you install Operational Decision Manager, make sure that you have the required software and sufficient disk space.

The versions of the required software can change from one release to the next. For the most up-to-date information, always check IBM® Operational Decision Manager detailed system requirements.

Note: IBM® acknowledges third-party software might be used in Operational Decision Manager components:
  • Apache Ant: Developed by The Apache Software Foundation, the Java-based build tool is provided in <InstallDir>/shared/tools/ant.
  • Eclipse: Open-source software available at http://www.eclipse.org. In Operational Decision Manager, Rule Designer is an Eclipse-based development environment.

Software requirement Description

Installation Manager 1.9 or later

Installation Manager is required to install Operational Decision Manager. Installation Manager is provided in the Operational Decision Manager installation files or from Installation Manager downloads.

If you use Linux, install Installation Manager by extracting its .tar file and installing its 64-bit version from disk 1 or 2 with the following command:

$cd<ODM_repository_location>/disk1/IM $unzip agent.installer.linux.gtk.x86_64_1.8.9003.20190204_1751.zip >> /dev/null 2>&1 $ ./installc "-acceptLicense"

WebSphere® Liberty 24.0.0.9

If you intend to deploy a sample server or a stand-alone server, you must install WebSphere Liberty to run the samples and tutorials. Take the Java™ EE full profile version to be able to run tests and simulations.

You can install from the product installation files by extracting the installation files to the location of your choice. Installation Manager does not extract the files for you.

Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers 4.30

During the installation of Operational Decision Manager, you can update an existing instance of Eclipse by using the Eclipse update sites for Rule Designer.

You can download Eclipse 4.30 from Eclipse IDE 2023-12 R Packages.

Java 17 Operational Decision Manager uses Java 17. For the latest compatible version, see IBM Operational Decision Manager detailed system requirements. Using the latest compatible version provides the best functionality and security.

To download JDK 17, go to IBM Semeru Runtimes Downloads and use the Version drop-down menu to open the list of Java 17 versions.
