Licensing for IBM Modernized Runtime Extension for Java

To install IBM Modernized Runtime Extension for Java™ (MoRE), you must have a license. You can get a license for IBM Modernized Runtime Extension for Java by purchasing IBM Enterprise Application Runtimes, or by purchasing it as an add-on if you already have entitlement to IBM Cloud Pak® for Applications 5.3, WebSphere Hybrid Edition 5.1, or WebSphere® Application Server Network Deployment 9.0.5.

The following information applies only to IBM® MoRE for IBM Cloud Pak for Applications 5.3 (Standard or Advanced editions), IBM MoRE for IBM WebSphere Hybrid Edition 5.1, and IBM MoRE for WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment 9.0.5.

Important: This Licensing Guide provides supplementary information to assist you in deploying the programs you have licensed from IBM within your purchased entitlement. Your license agreement (such as the IBM International Program License Agreement (IPLA) or equivalent, and its transaction documents, including the License Information for IBM Modernized Runtime Extension for Java) is the sole and complete agreement between you and IBM regarding use of the program.

Full licenses provide the option to utilize any of the enumerated and entitled products at the specified ratio consumptions.

What do you get with your purchase, and what is your entitlement?

IBM MoRE for IBM Cloud Pak for Applications, IBM MoRE for IBM WebSphere Hybrid Edition, and IBM MoRE for WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment add the ability to run modernized applications on recent versions of Java in WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment.

Each offering contains the following bundled product:

Licensing for IBM MoRE for IBM Cloud Pak for Applications, IBM MoRE for IBM WebSphere Hybrid Edition, and IBM MoRE for WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment is either a monthly or a subscription license.

When you deploy offerings under the IBM Modernized Runtime Extension for Java license, you must not exceed the maximum entitlement at any time. Deployments can include a mix of different deployed offerings, either standalone or a combination of both. Customers can change the deployed offerings at any time as long as they never exceed their maximum entitlement.

License ratio

Sizing uses a 1:1 VPC or PVU ratio compared to your current entitlement of WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment. Your entitlement of WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment can be provided by IBM Cloud Pak for Applications (on a VPC basis), IBM WebSphere Hybrid Edition (on a VPC basis), or WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment (on a PVU basis).

Entitlements of IBM Modernized Runtime Extension for Java can be reused in other ratios at any time, as long as the total entitlement is not exceeded. There is no limit to the number of times that entitlements can be used in different combinations.

Noncharged entitlements for IBM Modernized Runtime Extension for Java
Deployment ratios apply to the bundled program (IBM Modernized Runtime Extension for Java) within IBM MoRE for IBM Cloud Pak for Applications, IBM MoRE for IBM WebSphere Hybrid Edition, and IBM MoRE for WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment only. The supporting programs (IBM Application Modernization Accelerator and IBM Application Modernization Accelerator Developer Tools) can be deployed without requiring IBM Modernized Runtime Extension for Java VPCs or PVUs to be counted against its deployment.

Differences in license terms

The license terms for IBM Modernized Runtime Extension for Java supersede the license terms of the bundled offerings. However, this policy applies only when there is a conflict of terms. Terms that apply to the bundled programs still apply, if not superseded.
