Administering Maximo IT License and AppPoints

Your acquired AppPoints set the user access limit for Maximo IT in Maximo® Application Suite organization. For a new Maximo IT installation, you will need a license key and AppPoints to be able to access Maximo IT functionalities. For existing users in the Suite, Maximo IT AppPoints must be purchased and then appended with your existing license key file.

You can monitor and review your AppPoint usage and modify your entitlement to update your existing license file. By monitoring your AppPoint usage, you can periodically review whether you need to adjust your entitlement and update your license file.

Using Maximo IT AppPoints

Follow the steps below to upload license file for Maximo IT AppPoints:

  1. Log in to your IBM Rational license Key Center account.
  2. Purchase Maximo IT AppPoints. For more information, see Purchasing AppPoints.
  3. Acquire your Maximo Application Suite license key. You can download the file in the License Key Center.
  4. Upload the license file in Maximo Application Suite based on whether you are a new user or an existing user:
    1. If you are a new user, then upload your license file in MAS. (Suite administration > License consumption > Configuration > Replace license file).
    2. If you are an existing user, then copy the text from the license file downloaded in Step 3 and paste it in your existing license file. Then upload this modified license file in Maximo Application Suite using the Replace license file option mentioned above. This will append the newly purchased Maximo IT AppPoints to your existing ones.   5. The new license is applied on commit.
