Installing IBM MQ 8.0 by using the launchpad
Use the installation launchpad and wizards to install IBM® MQ 8.0 on Windows, and verify your installation by using the Postcard application.
Before you begin
Before starting this task, complete the following checks:
- You must have local administrator authority when you are installing.
- Ensure that the machine name does not contain any spaces.
- Ensure that you have sufficient disk space, 1005 MB for the server, to fully install IBM MQ for Windows.
Before you install IBM MQ, check that your system meets the hardware and software requirements. For the latest details of hardware and software requirements, see System Requirements for IBM MQ.
About this task
This task describes the basic steps for installing IBM MQ 8.0 on a Windows operating system.
The sample IT configuration described in this scenario was tested using IBM MQ 8.0.0.5 on a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (SP 1) operating system.
The installation programs contain links to further information. The installation
process has the following parts:
- Start the installation process.
- Use the Installation Launchpad to check and install software requirements, specify network information, and start the IBM MQ installation wizard.
- Use the IBM MQ installation wizard to install the software, and start the Prepare IBM MQ wizard.
- Use the Prepare IBM MQ wizard to start the IBM MQ service.
- Optionally, use the Default Configuration wizard to create a default configuration and associated objects for verifying the installation by using the Postcard application that is supplied with IBM MQ.
- If you completed step 4, use the Postcard application to verify your installation.
