Installing a permanent authorized user license

IBM® Developer for z/OS® is installed with a 90-day trial license. To use the product beyond the 90-day trial period, you must install a permanent license. If you have a permanent, client-based license, follow these steps to install it into the client. To learn more about product licensing and the license options that are available both for IBM Developer for z/OS and for IBM Developer for z/OS Enterprise Edition, see Product licensing.

Before you start

You must follow these guidelines:
  • Use the same installation method that you used to install the client. If you used IBM Installation Manager to install the client, you must use IBM Installation Manager to install the license. If you used the Eclipse P2 provisioning platform to install the client, you must use P2 to install the license.
  • Verify that you have the correct product version and format of the license. The product version and license format are identified in the file name of the license, for example:
    • IDz170_IM_PermanentLicense.jar is the version 17.0.x license for installation by using IBM Installation Manager.
    • IDz170_P2_PermanentLicense.zip is the version 17.0.x license for installation by using P2.
