Batch Uploads
Using the Batch Uploads module, you can upload or import business objects, such as suppliers, categories, regions, users into Emptoris® Virtual Supply Master.
You can also schedule a batch for downloading (exporting) various business objects using the Jobs module. See Scheduling Batch Download Jobs on page 87.
- Overview of Batch Uploading
A batch upload definition file consists of fields and defining attributes for the records. In Emptoris Virtual Supply Master, any user with the appropriate permissions can view, define, and edit the batch upload definitions. After the attributes or fields are defined, you can add data and upload the batch files in the format or fields specified. - Batch Upload Definitions
Batch upload definitions can be used for batch upload and download of business objects. Any user with appropriate permissions can create batch upload definitions for various business objects in Emptoris Strategic Supply Management Platform. - Database Tuning for Batch Import
Emptoris Strategic Supply Management Platform supports flexible batch upload definitions for importing data for different business objects and entities. The application provides a predefined set of batch upload definitions for suppliers and users. Each of the batch upload definition is configured with one or more look-up columns to locate existing Emptoris Strategic Supply Management Platform business objects and entities in the database. - Creating Batch Upload Definitions

After creating the batch upload definitions, you must use the newly created definitions to create the batch uploads and import the extracted data into Emptoris Strategic Supply Management Platform. - Creating Batch Upload Definitions from Files
You can create a new batch upload definition file from scratch instead of downloading the batch upload definition file provided in the application. - Creating Batch Uploads for Contacts
When designing batch uploads for update of user and contacts, you need to add a lookup field based on a unique attribute on that business object. If you want to assign a contact or user as Manager in the batch upload, then a unique attribute must be used to look up that user and contact. The default lookup field for users is user name. However, if the user name edit feature is enabled in the application, you must specify a different unique field for user lookup. Because contacts do not have a user name, specify any other attribute that is unique based on your business use case for lookup. - User/Contact Batch Upload Template Formats

For uploading reference data, you must use the Reference Data Batch Processor. The processor can add Reference data which includes adding a new code value. It can update the display value, additional text, miscellaneous field of an existing category, and code value combination. The Reference data created by the user using the bulk upload is not automatically translated.
