Tutorials for the governance enablement profile

These tutorials provide step by step instructions, with explanations, to show you how to use the governance enablement profile to manage services in your SOA environment.

An important requirement for SOA governance is to identify the key roles involved in the SOA service development lifecycle, what they must do, and their decision rights. This tutorial uses the following governance enablement profile roles:
  • Business
  • SOAGovernance
  • Development
  • Operations

These tutorials and their lessons assume that you use the WSRR dashboard. To start the WSRR dashboard:
  1. Open a web browser.
  2. Enter the URL https://server:port/ServiceRegistryDashboard, and log in.

The instructions in this tutorial assume you are using a Firefox browser, but other browsers can also be used.

The tutorials form a sequence. If you want to carry out all the tasks, complete the tutorials strictly in the order shown; however, you can also examine a specific tutorial for reference purposes.

  1. Setting up the tutorials

    This tutorial shows you how to use the governance enablement profile to govern an existing SCA service, and control its visibility and use across the organization.

    This tutorial shows you how to use the governance enablement profile to govern a service, and control its visibility and use across the organization.
  7. Governing an existing REST service
    This tutorial shows you how to use the governance enablement profile to govern an existing REST service, and control its visibility and use across the organization.
  8. Customizing runtime environments
    This tutorial describes one way that a new runtime environment can be added into the WSRR governance enablement profile. Part of the power of WSRR is the flexibility of its configuration and the pattern presented here is just one way of achieving the goal of defining a new environment and can be used as a guide for creating your own runtime environments.
