Release notes - March 2023

As IBM Support Insights continues to evolve, here are the details of the application's current progress.

Fixed issues and upgrades

Following is a list of improvements and new implementations in the application.

Historical inventory views

  • The application's Changes page is now revamped for all clients, providing a better oversight into their inventories' historical fluctuations.
  • The new view includes different sub-tabs for Inventory changes and Coverage changes, allowing users to better track and monitor their assets' historical differences.
  • The new view allows drilling down to details for specific asset type groups, allowing users further insights into the changes of different portions of their inventory.
  • For more information on the new Changes page and its capabilities, go into the Changes description section .

Pro client functionalities

  • The Security view of IBM Support Insights's Risks and recommendations page is now available as part of the application's Pro offering.
  • Several new security-related data points make up for an in-depth view on inventory.
  • Ranking of product families by security risk and the ability to (de)select product families provide a customizable exposure overview.
  • For more information on the new Security page and its capabilities, go into the Security description section .

Risks calculations improvements

  • The risks calculation criteria now include more asset groups, thus leading to higher accuracy in both individual risk scores and overall risk value.
  • The risk calculation formula is now better suited for handling NULL values, i.e. absent values. When the value of a certain element is not present (i.e. it is NULL), then it is excluded from the calculations, which eliminates the possibility of risk scores being artificially skewed.
  • The hardware risk calculation formula is now optimized and provides a higher accuracy in risk levels depending on the expiration date and its proximity to the current day.
  • The hardware expiration calculation now allows for providing alerts a year prior to the expiration date, giving users more time to take action for their at-risk inventory.
  • Disclaimer : based on the aforementioned improvements, users can expect fluctuations in their risk scores after the current application version deployment. This is due to updates in calculation, not to changes in exposure.

General improvements

  • Contract inactive assets have been removed from the application's views, providing users with an up-to-date view of their contracted inventory. Note, inactive assets are such under a contract that has expired over 180 days ago, or assets with no contract and warranty expired over 180 days ago.
  • Local table filters are now displayed in the same style as global filters, and are located at the beginning of the respective table for which they are enabled, adding to a more consistent user interface.
  • The users Add/Edit dialog is optimized, now containing only the essential detail fields.
