Installing the host component on your z/OS system

This section refers to information on the z/OS host server installation package, that needs to be installed on the mainframe.

After the product has been ordered, the package is available for download at IBM Passport Advantage®.

Installing the host component

Important: This information is intended for system programmers or other users familiar with installing IBM z/OS SMP/E product packages.

Use the z/OS host component package from the COBOL Upgrade Advisor for z/OS® Passport Advantage® product download to perform installation of the z/OS portion of COBOL Upgrade Advisor for z/OS®.

Transfer the pax file to your z/OS machine and perform SMP/E installation by following the instructions in Chapter 6 of the Program Directory.

Note: The Program Directory is included with the z/OS host component package.

Installing host component updates

For users looking to upgrade to the latest version of the COBOL Upgrade Advisor for z/OS® host component, check Shopz and install the latest PTF.

The latest PTF is cumulative and contains corrective fixes and features made available for a released product. It is recommended that users keep the z/OS host component updated in line with any VS Code extension upgrades.
