Publishing a zone to a network
You can publish a zone during zone creation or by editing the zone later. In either scenario, you can publish the zone to one or more networks based on the NS1 Connect networks to which you subscribe, or to an external DNS or backup network configured with the Cloud Sync premium add-on.
Before you begin
- You must have permissions to manage zones.
- If you are publishing to an external network, the network must already be configured.
- Note that publishing to an external DNS or backup network requires Cloud Sync, which is a premium add-on available only to Premium account types.
- The zone that you want to publish must already be created.
- The zone must contain less than 50,000 records.

If you published to a DNS network managed by NS1 Connect, the NS record is populated with answers to the assigned name servers for the networks that you selected.
If you published to an external network to synchronize or back up data through Cloud Sync, the synchronization or backup starts immediately. Every time a DNS change is made in NS1 Connect, Cloud Sync synchronizes the changes from NS1 Connect to Route 53. Only changes made as of the time of publishing to a backup network are backed up.
An entry is added to the activity log to indicate that the zone is publishing to a backup network. You can view the backed up versions through the activity log of the zone. If you stopped publishing to a network, an entry is added to the activity log to indicate that the backup was terminated.
