Validating the connection to an external network

If you didn't validate the network connection when you configured an external network, you must do so before IBM® Cloud Sync synchronizes or backs up DNS data.

Before you begin

You must have already started connecting an external network to either synchronize or back up data through Cloud Sync.

About this task

While connecting to an external network, you might not have completed all the policy and role steps or you might have received an error message indicating that the connection requires validation. In both of these cases, the network was created, but the connection was not validated.

The network connection must be validated successfully before DNS data is synchronized or backed up through Cloud Sync.

Procedure

  1. Click DNS > Network..
The Networks page opens. Any networks that are not validated show as Need validation.
  2. For the network that requires validation, click Validate connection.
The Confirm network information page opens and displays all the information that you provided when you started to connect to an external network.
  3. Expand each row on the page and confirm that the information is correct.
  4. If any of the information is not complete, refer to the instructions for the type of network that you want to connect:
  5. Click Validate connection.
NS1 Connect makes calls to Amazon Web Services (AWS) to validate the account and verify the user. NS1 Connect also checks that a DNS action can be performed.

What to do next

You can publish zones to the network to start synchronizing or backing up the DNS data.
