Getting Started with Txture Transformation Cockpit
The Transformation Cockpit is Txture's central management area from which you control and drive your cloud transformation. We aimed to build an interface that intuitively leads users along the cloud transformation process and enables running through the transformation step-by-step.
Navigation Concept
Before going into detail on the functionalities of each transformation section you need to know some general concepts that are used to navigate through the Transformation Cockpit more easily.
The horizontal navigation bar at the top of the Transformation Cockpit represents the transformation as a process in different sections. Application instances can be chosen from the vertical left sidebar to view the application instance-specific analysis for the respective section of the navigation bar in the main window.
Horizontal axis - the navigation bar
The navigation bar shows the following options:
- Summary This page contains an overview of all transformation sections as well as the actual state of your transformation.
- Data Collection Collecting data is the first logical step in the transformation process. Here, you will collect and validate application instance data.
- Assessment In the second section, you assess your application instances and determine whether or not to migrate them.
- Target Architecture In the third section, you analyze various options for the target architecture of your application instances and the associated costs.
- Roadmapping This section allows you to assign application instances to migration waves and organize the cloud migration over time while taking into account dependencies.
- Preferences Using this dropdown you can change the settings for both the assessment and the target architecture.

Exports
This menu allows to trigger different kinds of exports:
- Executive Summary export: Customizable report of the collected data and results.
- Application Details export: Customizable report of the selected application instances.
- Target Architecture Landscape export: Allows you to download the whole Target Architecture Landscape as a CSV or JSON export. This export contains a list of all assets of your target architecture including properties in your target architecture, such as the cloud product technologies used or the total costs expected.
Vertical axis - the sidebar
On the horizontal axis you can select Application Instances, Business Applications or Cloud Preference Groups. The latter two are used to group multiple application instances. If you select an asset from the sidebar, information about that asset will be presented. We call this view "application mode". Deselecting the asset will return you to the "global mode".
- Application Instances are the central asset type in the Txture's Structure. An application instance represents a single instance of a business application.
- Business Applications are used to group several instances of a business application, such as an application instance's production, testing, and staging environment.
- Cloud Preferences Groups allow random grouping of Application Instances or Business Applications.
Application Activation
Depending on your Txture license, you may need to enable application instances for the Transformation Cockpit. In this case, the Summary and Data Collection pages will be accessible for all application instances, while the Assessment, Target Architecture and Roadmapping sections will only be accessible for active application instances. In the top level, under Status, you can see the Transformation Cockpit Status, which can have three modes:
- Inactive = Application instances that have not been activated yet, hence they do not have an assessment nor a target architecture proposal result yet.
- Active = Application instances that are active automatically get an assessment evaluation and target architecture proposals. These results are continuously updated.
- Read-Only = Application instances that were once active but the license has run out. The last state of their assessment scores, as well as selected or saved proposals remains in view only mode but results are not updated anymore.
In the global mode of your Summary page you always see how many application instance slots are still available. The button "Select Applications" opens a modal which allows you to activate applications in bulk. Below you see additional statistics on how many of your application instances are currently active, inactive or in read-only mode.
By default only users of the role "admin" can see open slots and change the Transformation Cockpit Status of an application instance. If users in other roles should be granted permission to activate application instances as well, this can be changed via the role permission configuration.
