Monitoring the appliance with the web console
In the web console for Db2® Warehouse, you can explore the appliance overall status, including hardware, software, database, and system metrics.
- Home page
- The console home page provides you with basic information about the system, which allows you to
assess its overall health at a glance. You can personalize the home page to view different widgets,
depending on your needs. Each widget tells a story about one key aspect of the overall system or
database. Multiple metrics are available, as well as the ability to fly over or drill down for more
details and problem resolution. From there, you can decide which system requires further drill-down.
After you click the selected widget, detailed information is displayed. Some of the widgets are
enhanced with baseline range for comparison. You can choose between:
- Classic baseline, that is, a range of MEAN +/- 1 standard deviation of data samples in the same time period during the last 4 weeks.
- Smarter baseline, which is generated based on Machine Learning Model trained by historical data from at least 4 weeks behind. When enough data is collected, you can click Train now to train the baseline on the existing data, and start using it. You can also retrain the smarter baseline when more data is collected.
For more information about personalizing the home page, see Personalizing the console home page.
- Dashboard page
-
By using the page, you can explore appliance hardware or software issues, events, database key performance data, and appliance metrics trends (such as CPU, Memory, Swap Space, IO Read, IO Write, Storage Utilization File Systems, Network Transmit and Network Receive).
The numbers of issues and events are displayed for the hardware and software. You can click the number to drill down to the hardware or software notification list, or switch to the system notification page by clicking to review the details.
For the database status, click the alert number to review the alert details. You can also check the alert details by selecting the page.
For system metrics, select the appliance metrics that you are interested in from the Metrics filter list. The metrics include CPU, Memory, Swap space, IO Read, IO Write, Storage utilization of the file systems, Network transmit, and Network receive. By checking the metrics trend, you can detect potential system problems.
- System page
- By selecting the items under the menu, you can view and manage the status of Hardware, Software, Storage, Data Slices,
and Notifications.
- To explore appliance hardware overall status, and drill down to see component detailed status to
check whether the appliance is in a good state, click the Hardware sub-menu.
The hardware status for Nodes, Management Switches, Fabric Switches, Fiber Channel Switches, FlashSystem and RPCs are monitored and displayed. You can click the issue number to review the notification details, or go to the page to filter the notifications by using the hardware keyword.
By clicking a component on the hardware chart, especially the component with an alert icon, you can check the detailed information of the component, including the overall status, simulated diagram, and other information.
- To explore appliance software component status, version to check whether system and application
are working properly, click the Software sub-menu.
The Software components are grouped by LOCATION, STATUS, TYPE or VERSION in a list.
For any software problems within the list, go to the page to filter the issues by using the software keyword, and then select the specific notification to review the details.
- To explore appliance hardware overall status, and drill down to see component detailed status to
check whether the appliance is in a good state, click the Hardware sub-menu.
