Integrating with IBM Sterling Intelligent Promising Capacity service

You can integrate IBM Sterling® Order Management System with the IBM® Sterling™ Intelligent Promising Capacity service by seamlessly using an inbuilt adapter. This integration eliminates the need for custom implementations.

In this integration, the capacity availability is synced from IBM Sterling Order Management System to IBM Sterling Intelligent Promising by using the Sterling Order Management System agents and events.

The integration consists of the following functions:

Integrating capacity category availability
Sterling Intelligent Promising APIs and events consider the capacity before suggesting a promising output or inventory availability events. For more information, see Capacity service.
Creating and updating Sterling Intelligent Promising the capacity workflow
The workflow must be created for capacity consideration in Sterling Intelligent Promising.

The integration provides the capability to create and update the workflow to consider the Sterling Order Management System capability and to synchronize it with Sterling Intelligent Promising.

For new and existing Sterling Order Management System customers, complete the following steps.

Integrate the capacity availability. For more information, see Configuring capacity-based availability.
Create and update the capacity workflow. For more information, see Configuring capacity workflows.

When there is a change in capacity, the agent and events are evaluated. The change in capacity is determined by calling the IBM Sterling Intelligent Promising APIs.

The following Sterling Order Management System agents and events are used for integration.

CALCULATE_CAPACITY_AVAILABILITY agent - Configure and run this agent on a periodic basis to sync the capacity changes in Sterling Intelligent Promising within the configured trigger time. You can set it to as low as 1 minute.
ON_STD_CAPACITY_FILLED and ON_STD_CAPACITY_FREED events - Activate these events to update Sterling Intelligent Promising in real time when the capacity in Sterling Order Management System is full for a particular slot and when the capacity is freed for a particular slot. The integration uses the Sterling Intelligent Promising adapter and the nodes that are configured in Sterling Intelligent Promising.

When the capacity events are run, the integration updates the capability availability and the workflows are updated asynchronously without impacting the CALCULATE_CAPACITY_AVAILABILITY agent reservations or scheduled transactions.
