Defining monitoring rules

Define monitoring rules to control how the system evaluates lifecycle behavior for a status. These rules determine when a status applies and how the system responds by using conditions, actions, and connections on the monitoring rules canvas.

About this task

Monitoring rules are defined directly on the canvas. You define monitoring rules in the following situations:
  • The status depends on specific conditions.
  • You need observable logic in the user interface.
  • You support SLA tracking, exception handling, or event-based updates.
Monitoring rules include the following components:
  • Conditions evaluate data and determine whether a status applies. For more information, see Defining conditions.
  • Actions define what happens when conditions are met. For more information, see Defining actions in process steps.
  • Connections define how rule evaluation flows between elements.
  • Comments provide context for specific rule elements on the canvas.

Use data types in conditions when the rule requires structured data. Define data types when you create or update the status.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Order Hub.
  2. From the side navigation menu, click Configuration > Application platform > Process modeling.
  3. In the process modeling area, click the required process type.
The system displays the Service definitions list in the side panel.
  4. Click the Statuses icon (Statuses icon that looks like a document with the corner folded over).
The system displays the Statuses list in the side panel.
  5. Select the extended status for which you want to modify.
The system displays the Status window with the Monitoring rules tab open in the canvas.
  6. Click either the Actions icon (Adds actions and looks like a bell) or the Conditions icon (Adds conditions and looks like a black diamond inside a larger diamond).
  7. Drag monitoring nodes and elements to the canvas.
  8. Define the rule logic by arranging and connecting the elements.
  9. Optional: Click the Add comment icon (Adds text as a comment), enter a comment, and place it next to a condition or action.
  10. Click Save.
Note: You cannot add status monitoring rules for the following process types, and the Monitoring rules tab is therefore disabled:

    • General
    • Load Execution
    • Manifesting
    • Move Request Execution
