Configuring user-triggered transactions

Configure a user-triggered transaction to allow users to initiate processing activities. User-triggered transactions notify users when work is ready and requires user action before processing continues.

About this task

Users initiate user-triggered transactions instead of external systems or scheduled processing. Configure a notification service to alert users when a document reaches the transaction and is ready for user action.

Before you configure a user-triggered transaction, create a transaction or open an existing transaction. For more information, see Creating transactions and Modifying transactions.

Procedure

  1. Open a transaction.
  2. On the Trigger sources tab, click User triggered.
  3. Select the This transaction is triggered by users checkbox.
  4. In the When ready, notify user using field, click Search.
  5. Select the service that you want to use for user notification.
  6. Click Save.

Results

The transaction is configured as a user-triggered transaction. Users receive a notification when a document reaches the transaction and is ready for processing.

What to do next

  1. Define event conditions to determine how the transaction responds to events during processing. For more information, see Defining event conditions.
  2. Configure transaction completion criteria to determine when the transaction is complete.
  3. Associate the transaction with the required process steps.
