Planning for installation
The IBM® packages that are available for installing CICS® TS are a system replace method called ServerPac and the Custom-Built Product Delivery Option (CBPDO).
ServerPac
The ServerPac can be installed through the z/OSMF Software Management task.
During the ServerPac installation, you configure your installation to map to your environment, such as data set naming, data set placement, catalog specification, and so on.
- DVDs (ServerPac install only) or a downloadable package containing a complete, generated CICS TS system.
- Sample jobs to assist with the installation of the CICS TS product and service.
If you ordered the portable software instance of the ServerPac, you use the z/OSMF Software Management task to acquire the files, then customize and deploy them. See Downloading a ServerPac in PSI format for details.
CBPDO (Custom-Build Product Delivery Option)
CBPDO (Custom-Built Product Delivery Option) is an entitled software delivery package that consists of uninstalled products and unintegrated service. There is no dialog program to help you install it, as there is with ServerPac. You must use SMP/E to install.
If you order CBPDO, you can download one logically stacked SMP/E RELFILE package that contains all the base elements. Depending on your customer profile, you receive uninstalled service. You also receive the following items:
- Sample jobs to help you install CICS TS and service.
- The CBPDO Memo to Users Extension and program materials that describe your CBPDO order.
Installing
You can install CICS TS by using the standard IBM installation methods, or by using the CICS-supplied DFHISTAR jobs. For information about installing by using the DFHISTAR jobs, see Installing CICS TS using DFHISTAR.
