Calculating emissions without a scope in the provided template

Use the CALCUATION functions to calculate emissions without a scope in the provided template.

About this task

You can calculate emissions by using the factor that is automatically selected for you, or you can specify the factor that you want the calculation to use. To specify the factor, you need to know the unique factor ID. You can find the ID in three ways:

Procedure

  1. In the template, open the Calculation sheet.
  2. Enter activity data, such as the value, unit, and country.
  3. Optional: Get AI to help select a activity type when you are unsure which one to use:
    1. In the Activity name cell, describe the activity. You can use natural language, for example, flight to Paris.
    2. In the Country cell, specify the country where the activity occurred.
    3. In the Recommended activity type cell, start typing RECOMMEND and when the full list of functions is displayed, select RECOMMEND_ACTIVITY_TYPE(search,country,[stateProvince],[data],[page],[size]).
    4. For the search value, select the Name cell and then select your specified country. You can also optionally specify the state or province, data, page, and size.
    5. Review the recommended activity type, confidence score, and description.
Confidence scores range from 0 to 1, where values closer to 1 indicate a stronger match.
If you agree with the recommendation, continue to the next step. If you do not agree with the recommendation, you can insert a drop-down in the cell with the recommendation. You can then search for and select a different activity type.
    6. Select the cell that has the suggested activity type.
    7. On the IBM Envizi tab, from the ribbon, click Insert all activity types.
The cell now has a drop-down that you can use to select another activity type.
  4. Use the CALCULATION function to calculate emissions. In the Total CO2e cell, start typing =ENVIZI, and the full list of functions is displayed in a drop-down.
    Option Description
If you want to use the automatically selected factor... From the drop-down, select the ENVIZI.CALCULATION function.
If you want to specify the factor for the calculation... From the drop-down, select the ENVIZI.CALCULATION_BY_FACTORID function.
  5. Select the cell that contains each value as shown in the function, followed by a comma.
For example, the first value in both CALCULATION functions is type, so you select the cell where you specified the activity type and then add a comma. Repeat the process for each value in the function.
  6. When you finish entering values, type a closing parenthesis and press Enter.
You can now see calculations for emissions, such as CO2, CH4, and N2O.
  7. Review the results and save.
