Forecast cube overview
The Forecast cube is the main analytical model in the Emissions Planning and Forecasting application, combining historical actuals with forecasted values in a multidimensional structure.
The Forecast cube combines historical actuals from IBM® ESG Suite with forecasted values that are created in Planning Analytics Workspace (PAW). The cube is a multidimensional table with dimensions and members:
- Dimensions
- Categories such as Location, Time, Utility type, Scenario, Version, and Measure.
- Members
- Items within a dimension, such as a specific site like "Grand Central."
Dimensions and members
Each value in the Forecast cube is defined by multiple dimensions:
- Version
- Actuals, Forecast, and Actuals + Forecast.
The Actuals version contains immutable values from Envizi ESG Suite up to a cut-off date set by a data modeler. Users can modify Forecast values through supported methods.
- Scenario
- Baseline, Target, Growth, and others.
Use the Scenario dimension to create different forecast sets under varying assumptions.
- Location
- Organizational or site hierarchy.
- Utility type
- Electricity, Gas, Water, Diesel.
- Measure
- Native units, CO₂ emissions, cost, and others.
Location, Utility type, and Measure are metadata dimensions that categorize and describe Envizi ESG Suite data.
- Calendar
- Time periods and years.
