Editing locked records and related entities

After records enter any approval status except Created or Rejected, the records are locked, along with related entities.

Unauthorized users cannot edit or delete locked records through the user interface, and locked records cannot be overwritten by file upload. Notes and attachments that were added before the records are locked also cannot be edited or deleted. Locked records also prevent related accounts, locations, and classification groups from being deleted. To delete related entities, the records must be unlocked first.

By default, Data Reviewers and Data Approvers are given lock override permissions to edit locked records that are in either Pending Review, Reviewed, or Pending Approval status. If you want to enforce strict data governance processes, you can customize your approval statuses to remove the lock override permissions from all statuses. In this scenario, records must be unlocked, for example, by rejecting the record, to enable editing.
