Sending data to IBM Storage Protect by using S3 client applications
By using the Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) protocol, you can send data from IBM® Storage Protect Plus and other object clients to IBM Storage Protect.
Before you begin
Restriction: Ensure that your object client uses only the S3 application programming
interface (API) operations that IBM
Storage Protect supports.
Supported object client applications are listed in the S3 API Operations topic. Before
placing the solution into a production environment, thoroughly test your object client applications
with IBM
Storage Protect.
About this task
To send object client data, you must set up your IBM Storage Protect Plus or other S3 client as an object client to the IBM Storage Protect server. After you set up a corresponding object agent on the IBM Storage Protect server and start the service, object client data can be sent to the IBM Storage Protect server.
For IBM Storage Protect Plus only, you can also copy infrequently accessed data, or cold data, from the object client to the IBM Storage Protect server so that the server can store the data on physical tape media or in a virtual tape library (VTL).
