Features

Enhancements

  • Diagnostics with Helm and deep-debug ClickHouse collectors is improved.
  • The K3s version is updated to 1.36.0+k3s1.
  • The Envoy proxy version is updated to 1.36.5_v0.24.0.

Fixes

  • Resolved an issue that prevented license downloads on bastion hosts without K3s installed.
  • Resolved an issue that might result in an application crash due to missing SSH keys by adding robust error handling.
  • Multiple security vulnerabilities are fixed.
Note:
  • Current and future releases require cgroup v2 for Linux. Make sure that cgroup v2 is enabled.
1.13.1 15 April 2026

You can upgrade to Self-Hosted Standard Edition 1.13.1 only from Standard Edition 1.11.0 and later.

Fixes:

  • The --plain flag was evaluated after terminal output was written, which caused incorrect terminal configuration. Terminal configuration now occurs before any output is written.
  • The number of images displayed during air‑gapped packaging and import did not match. This issue is fixed.
  • Multiple security vulnerabilities (CVEs) are fixed.
1.13.0 24 March 2026

You can upgrade to Self-Hosted Standard Edition 1.13.0 only from Standard Edition 1.11.0 and later.

Features:

  • Now you can use the updated stanctl license info --usage command to view complete license information and consumption metrics. For more information, see License activation and renewal.
  • Now you can migrate sensitive information such as email and SMTP settings, proxy settings, acceptor configurations, feature flags, and domain configuration. For more information, see Migrating from Custom Edition to Standard Edition.

Enhancements:

The debug command is renamed to diagnostics. The debug command remains available only as an alias for backward compatibility and does not provide separate functionality.

Note:
  • Future releases will require cgroup v2 for Linux. Make sure that cgroup v2 is enabled.
1.12.0 2 December 2025

You can upgrade to Self-Hosted Standard Edition 1.12.0 only from Standard Edition 1.10.x and later.

To upgrade 1.9.x and earlier versions, you must upgrade to 1.10.x first.

Before you upgrade to Self-Hosted Standard Edition 1.12.0, you must update the mirroring changes.

Features:

  • Support for five-node cluster deployments with optimized resource distribution, including a dedicated ClickHouse node for improved performance.
  • Proactive resource capacity validation before updates to prevent failures due to insufficient node resources.
  • Modernized command-line interface for improved interactive prompts and progress indicators.

Enhancements:

  • ClickHouse 25.8 for better stability and performance.
  • Optimized multi-node migration for faster and more reliable performance.

Fixes:

  • Multi-node migration prompt appeared even though IP addresses were already configured. The prompt no longer appears if IP addresses are configured.
  • The custom values in core and unit specifications were overwritten during updates. Now custom values are retained during updates.
  • Filter deployment was unstable during update rollout. This issue is fixed.
  • Multiple security vulnerabilities (CVE) are fixed.
1.11.6 21 October 2025

You can upgrade to Self-Hosted Standard Edition 1.11.6 only from Standard Edition 1.9.x and later.

To upgrade 1.8.x and earlier versions, you must upgrade to 1.9.x first.

Before you upgrade to Self-Hosted Standard Edition 1.11.6, you must update the mirroring changes.

Enhancements

  • Now stanctl automatically deletes outdated Docker images to save disk space. You need not wait for the Kubernetes garbage collector to clean up resources.

Fixes:

  • This release includes fixes for multiple security vulnerabilities.
1.10.4 17 February 2026 -

Note: The stanctl commands do not work in Standard Edition 1.10.2 and earlier versions.

Fixes:

  • The versions id command failed to run. This issue is resolved.
1.9.4 17 March 2026

If you are on Self-Hosted Standard Edition 1.8.x or earlier versions, you must upgrade to 1.9.4 first before you upgrade to 1.10.x or later.

When you upgrade to 1.9.4, backend 3.297.463-0 is automatically selected. You cannot change this backend version.

Compatibility matrix for Standard Edition

The following table lists the Standard Edition version and the Instana backend versions that are compatible.

Attention:

Self-Hosted Standard Edition 1.10.3 and earlier versions:

  • For online (non-air-gapped) installations, most stanctl lifecycle commands, such as stanctl up will fail to run.
  • For air-gapped installations, the stanctl commands continue to work.

Required action: Upgrade stanctl to 1.10.4 or later versions before you perform a lifecycle operation.

Example: On online deployments that run stanctl 1.10.3 or earlier versions, any workflow that stops services, such as a stanctl down command, before a backup, cannot complete because the subsequent stanctl up command fails. Upgrade stanctl to 1.10.4 or later versions before you start these steps.
