Planning for a replication environment

For IBM® PureData® System for Analytics and IBM Netezza® appliances, IBM Netezza Replication Services provides a disaster recovery solution by making critical information available on multiple appliances.

You can use IBM Netezza Replication Services software to connect two or more IBM PureData™ System for Analytics or IBM Netezza systems (generally referred to as Netezza systems in this documentation) and configure them so that user data and objects that you create on one Netezza system (the master) are copied (replicated) to one or more subordinate Netezza systems. The Linux replication log server that is part of a replication solution provides a layer of redundancy against potential failure, in addition to that of the highly available hosts in the appliance. Whether you are planning for a new Netezza environment and are considering a replication solution or already have a Netezza environment and want to add replication to some or all of your systems, work with your IBM Netezza sales representative to identify and understand the hardware and software requirements. Your representative can also assist with site planning and installation requirements. This section includes important questions about the Netezza environment that help to determine and plan for the necessary configuration.
