Distributing apps to tvOS devices

You can add apps to the App Catalog and then distribute those apps to tvOS devices.

About this task

For tvOS devices,
  • You can distribute apps from the App Catalog only by using the Install Automatically distribution mode.
  • You can only distribute apps with device-based Apple Volume Purchase Program (VPP) licenses by using the App Catalog.
Notes:
  • You must not distribute iOS apps to tvOS devices and vice versa.
  • To distribute apps to tvOS devices in a group, ensure that the group includes only tvOS devices. Do not add any iOS devices to this group.

You can also distribute apps to tvOS devices from the device group. For more information, see Managing device groups in the IBM MaaS360 Portal.

Procedure

  1. From the App Catalog, select an app with device-based VPP licenses, and then click Distribute.
  2. From the Target section, specify whether the app is distributed to a specific device, a group, or all devices.
  3. Select the Install Automatically checkbox to automatically install the app on a device.
  4. Select the Retry app install on failures checkbox, and then select the number of attempts that the app tries to reinstall on a device if it fails to install on the first attempt.
  5. Select the Send Email checkbox to notify the target group or device that an app was added to the App Catalog.
  6. Click Distribute.
