What's New

This page highlights recent updates and additions to the Azure deployment documentation for Db2® Warehouse SaaS.

4 June 2026 – BYOC v1.3

This release introduces new features and enhancements on the BYOC Azure Db2 offering:

  • Default/Custom VPC CIDR Configuration: Dataplane creation in the BYOC console now includes preconfigured VPC and subnet CIDR defaults that users can customize. Enhanced validation checks (alignment, range, and compliance) and enforcement rules prevent overlaps with restricted ranges such as the AKS service CIDR (172.20.0.0/15).
  • Data Plane Link/Unlink Operations: Support has been added for linking and unlinking dataplanes via VNet peering with non-overlapping VNet CIDRs. Additional validation ensures required permissions and roles are properly configured before linking dataplanes.
  • DR Operations for Db2 Warehouse SaaS: Db2 disaster recovery operations can now be triggered directly from the Admin Console between linked dataplanes.

Version supported:

  • Db2 Engine: 12.1.3.0.00000.009
  • AKS: 1.34.4

26 March 2026 - BYOC v1.2.2

This release introduces Azure Managed Redis Enterprise Cache and improved security.

  • Azure Managed Redis Enterprise Cache support for Db2 Console: Db2 Console now uses Azure Managed Redis Enterprise Cache for improved reliability and performance. For existing deployments, IBM SRE teams will automatically migrate your environment from Azure Redis Cache to Azure Managed Redis Enterprise during a scheduled infrastructure maintenance window.
  • Security patches and fixes on the Control Plane and Data Plane.

Version supported:

  • Db2 Warehouse Engine: 12.1.2.0.01.004
  • AKS: 1.33.3

25 November 2025 – BYOC v1.2.0

This version delivers new replication capabilities, security enhancements, and improved operational tooling:

  • QRep support for Db2 Warehouse on BYOC: QRep is now fully enabled for Db2 Warehouse deployments on BYOC.
  • Dataplane overlay network and VNet encryption: Enabled both overlay networking and VNet encryption, providing additional layers of security and scalability.
  • Dataplane diagnostic settings: Diagnostic capture is now enabled for Kubernetes and audit logs to enhance troubleshooting and compliance tracking.
  • Durable Functions enablement: Existing Function Apps now use Durable Functions, replacing Logic Apps for more reliable workflows.
  • OpenAPI 3.0 documentation: OpenAPI (v3.0) specification documentation is now available for supported APIs.
  • Improved deletion flows: Refined the deletion workflows for dataplanes and engines to ensure cleaner and more predictable lifecycle operations.
  • SRE‑operated update API: A new SRE‑operated API allows updates to customer‑hosted dataplane clusters and engines.
  • New region support: US West 3.

Version supported:

  • Db2 Warehouse Engine: 12.1.2.0.01.002
  • AKS: 1.33.3

21 October 2025 – BYOC v1.1.0

This update introduces foundational improvements to cluster management and operational monitoring:

  • Operation watchdog: Implemented a watchdog mechanism to detect and notify on long‑running dataplane/engine provisioning tasks, with direct alert integration to IBM SRE monitoring dashboards.
  • Deployment stack–based resource creation: Adopted stack‑based deployment for more structured and reliable resource provisioning.

Version supported:

  • Db2 Warehouse Engine: 12.1.2.0.01.001

12 September 2025 – BYOC v1.0.2

This release introduces unified control and expanded availability:

  • Unified Control Plane: A common control plane is now available for both Db2 and Db2 Warehouse, enabling a single‑subscription model and streamlined management across services.
  • Expanded regional availability: Db2 is now supported in Norway East and Japan East, improving global reach and deployment flexibility.
  • Enhanced security with WAF: A Web Application Firewall (WAF) is now enabled to provide stronger protections and improved compliance posture.
  • Standard API rate limiting: API rate‑limiting is now enforced to ensure fair usage and maintain stable service performance.
  • Alerts for long‑running provisions: Alerts and notifications have been added to help users monitor and manage long‑running provisioning operations.
