Create waste management records to track waste from generation through disposal helping
ensure proper documentation and regulatory compliance.
Before you begin
Before you create waste management records, verify the following prerequisites.
- Appropriate security permissions to create waste management records
- Knowledge of the waste type, amount, and storage location
- Information about associated assets or locations
About this task
Waste management records can be created manually in the Waste Management application or automatically from work order actuals. Each record tracks a specific waste stream from generation through final disposal.
Procedure

From the navigation menu, click
.
The Waste Management application opens with the List View displayed.

Click Add New +.
A new waste management record is created in
the
Waste Management tab. The
ID field is populated with
an auto-generated number, the
Site field is populated with your default
insert site, and the
Status field is set to
Draft.
For
more information about status values, see Waste management record status values.
- Optional:
In the ID field, enter a custom waste number to replace the
auto-generated value.
You can modify the waste number only before saving the record for the first time.

In the Description field, enter a description of the waste.

In the Asset field, specify the asset that is associated with the waste
generation.
The Location field is auto-populated with the location
associated with the selected asset. You can change the location.

In the Location field, which is the asset location, specify the location
for the waste to be moved.

In the Waste type field, select the type of waste from the lookup.

In the Waste amount field, enter the quantity of waste.
- Optional:
In the Limit storage amount field, enter the maximum amount of this
waste type that can be stored at the location.

In the Waste Amount Unit of Measure field, select the unit of measure
for the waste amount.
- Optional:
In the Limit Storage Unit of Measure field, select the unit of measure
for the storage limit.
- Optional:
Select the Hazardous option if the waste is classified as
hazardous.
- Optional:
Mark the Regulated option as Yes if the waste
needs to be regulated.
This option is enabled only after you select the
Hazardous option
.
- Optional:
In the Risk Assessment field, select an associated risk assessment
record if the waste is marked regulated.
- Optional:
In the Classification section, classify the waste record in
Classification field, and add its description.
When you classify a waste record, associated specifications are automatically added to the
record.
- In the Owner information section, the Site,
Organization, Created by and Created
date fields are auto-filled. The Owner and Owner
group fields are disabled.
- Optional:
In the Service address section, specify the storage address.

In the Service Address field, select a service address record.
The City and State/Province fields are
automatically populated with information from the selected service address.

Enter relevant information in the Formatted Address, Street
Address, and Zip code fields.
Changes to address fields are saved locally with the waste management record and do not affect
the service address record.
- In the Inspections section, either select an existing
Inspection form or Create Inspection Result.
- When you select an existing inspection form, the Current form revision
field is auto-filled with the revision number. You can now create an inspection result.
- If you create an inspection result, the inspection details and waste record are saved
automatically.
- Specify details in Inspector, Inspector
group, Inspection result and Due date
fields.
- Optional:
In the Container section, add the following information.
- In the Container ID field, enter the identifier for the waste
container.
- In the Container Type field, select the type of container that
is used for waste storage.
- Select the Capacity unit of measure from the look up
form.
- Enter text in the Label ID and Barcode / QR
notes fields.

Save the record.
The waste management record is saved with Draft status.
Results
The waste management record is created and can be further configured with disposal plans, inspections, regulatory compliance, checklists, and certifications.
