Updating meter readings for assets and locations

You can update meter readings for assets and locations on audit or survey records. You might need to update a meter reading to track the performance of an asset or a location that is associated with an audit or a survey.

Before you begin

You use the Meters application to add or to modify meter definitions, and to specify the asset or the location where a meter is used. Meter definitions include the names for the meters and the sets of attributes that describe the meters. An asset or a location can be associated with multiple meters. You use the Assets application and the Locations application to associate an audit or a survey with an asset or a location.

1. Display the audit or survey record for which you want to update a reading.
2. From the More Actions menu, select Enter Meter Readings.
3. To update a meter reading, select either of the following options: To update a meter reading for an asset, click the Asset Meter Readings tab. To update a meter reading for a location, click the Location Meter Readings tab. If the asset or location has meters, and the asset inherits the meter reading for the location, enter a reading for either the asset or the location. If the asset has child records that inherit meter readings, the meter readings for the child records are updated. If the location has assets that inherit meter readings for the location, the readings for the assets in that location are updated.
4. In the New Reading field, type a value.
5. The login name for the user displays in the Inspector field. To change the inspector, specify a value, or click Detail Menu to retrieve a value.
6. To enter the reading and return to the record, click OK.
