Envizi GHG API integration for emission calculations

Starting in IBM® Maximo® Health, Safety and Environment 9.2, the IBM Envizi greenhouse gas (GHG) API integration automatically calculates carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e) emissions in IBM Maximo Manage, eliminating the need for manual calculations and improving accuracy of sustainability reporting.

When you record emissions in Maximo Health, Safety and Environment, the system can automatically calculate the CO₂e values by integrating with the Envizi GHG API.

  • Eliminates manual CO₂e calculations and reduces potential errors
  • Provides emission calculations by using current industry-standard emission factors
  • Improves consistency in sustainability reporting
  • Reduces the time that is required to process emission data
  • Supports compliance with environmental regulations and reporting standards

How it works

Before you can use the Envizi integration, your system administrator must configure the API connection settings and set up the lookup values for emission gas type.

When you save an incident emission record with the required information, Maximo Manage sends the emission data to the Envizi API. The API processes the data and returns the calculated CO₂e amount and unit, which Maximo Manage automatically stores in the emission record.

The integration requires the following information:

  • Emission gas type such as methane or carbon dioxide
  • Emission quantity
  • Unit of measurement

The Envizi API uses this information along with current emission factors to calculate the CO₂e equivalent for the recorded emission.
