Deleting glossary values

To remove unwanted, outdated, or incorrectly typed terms, you can delete glossary values that are not in use.

Important: Deleted glossary values are permanently removed and cannot be recovered.
From the glossary view, you can delete the following glossary values by clicking the delete beside the glossary value.
  • Glossary values that are always visible always visible
    • If the value is in use, you cannot delete it but you can review the artifacts that are using it.
    • If the value was previously used, you can see the last date when it was used, review the artifacts that used it, and confirm that you want to permanently delete it.
    • If the value was never used, you are asked to confirm that you want to permanently delete it.
  • Glossary values that are only visible when used only visible when used
    • Because these values show up only when they are in use, they can never be deleted from the main (active) glossary view.
    • If you are an admin in an account that gives you full permission to the glossary, you can delete these values by changing to the Inactive view. This view shows only glossary values that are not otherwise visible, which includes values that are used only in historical snapshots, values that were used and deleted, values that were created and never used, and values in archived artifacts.
    • Use the Inactive view to see the creation date and the last date when the glossary value was used, review the artifacts that used it, and confirm that you want to permanently delete it. You cannot delete glossary values that are still in use in archived artifacts.
If you delete a glossary value that was used in a historical snapshot, and that snapshot is restored, the glossary value will reappear in the glossary.
