Installing the Password Creation Tool (ermmpwgen)

You can install the optional Password Creation Tool (ermmpwgen) on your TSLM client. Choose the instructions for your TSLM client platform.

Installing the Password Creation Tool (ermmpwgen) on AIX systems

On AIX® systems, use SMIT to install the IBM® Tape System Library Manager package for the PWGen (password creation) tool. Figure 1 shows the SMIT Install Software menu.

From the SMIT Install Software menu, follow these steps:

For the Input device field, select the aix64 directory on the installation media or the installation file system.
For the Software to Install field, make the following selection:
```
TSLM 64-bit Password Creation v.r.m
```
where v.r.m indicates the version, release, and modification level.
Change the setting for ACCEPT new license agreements? to YES.

Installing the Password Creation Tool (ermmpwgen) on Linux systems

On Linux® systems, to install the TSLM PWGen (password creation) tool, change to the directory linux_ibm_64 on the installation media or the installation file system, and use the following command:

rpm -iv tslm-pwgen-v.r.m-nn.x86_64.rpm

The version, release, and modification levels are indicated by v.r.m and nn indicates the software distribution level.

To verify the previous installation, use the following command:

rpm -qa |grep tslm

The output shows the TSLM components installed. Verify that the following component is shown:

tslm-pwgen-v.r.m-nn

Installing the Password Creation Tool (ermmpwgen) on Windows systems

On Windows systems, follow these steps to install the TSLM PWGen (password creation) tool:

Start the TSLM PWGEN installation wizard:
1. Change to the win directory on the installation media or the installation directory and double-click or run the following file:
```
tslm-pwgen-v.r.m.nn.msi
```
  The version, release, and modification levels are indicated by v.r.m and nn indicates the software distribution level.
  The installation wizard launches, and the Welcome window opens.
2. In the Welcome window, click Next:

In the Folder field of the Select Installation Folder window, enter the name of the installation folder:

Follow the instructions on the Ready to Install window:

The Completing window opens. In the Completing window, click Finish:

After a successful installation, you must restart your system:

Verify the installation. Click Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs, and check whether TSLM PWGen is installed:
