Viewing business objects in a network graph

You can view business objects for an investigation in a network graph view and timeline. This view allows you to gain better insight and understanding of these related entities.

About this task

Objects that are related to an investigation are displayed as a radial network with the investigation at the center in the Network Graph view. Viewing data in this way can reveal relationships, patterns, and trends between objects that might not be obvious in another form, such as a list. The Network Graph view also allows you to view business objects on a timeline, filter objects in the views, and navigate to object details.
Tip: Where the Network Graph displays related business objects, the Relationships view displays related investigations.

Procedure

To view business objects on a network graph:

  1. From the In-Baskets page, click the row that is associated with an investigation.
Note: By default, the Card view is displayed with all associated business objects displayed in the card containers.
  2. From the Details page, select the Network Graph view.
  3. Click an object on the network graph and select Show Related to reveal related business objects.
  4. Click an object on the network graph and select Show Details to reveal the Details flyout pane. You can also click the Details icon Details icon to show and hide details of the objects that you selected.
Note: From the Details flyout pane you can pin and unpin business objects. When you unpin a business object from the investigation, the Network Graph view is updated and the black line that connects the business object to the investigation folder is removed. The business object might still be related to other business objects by green lines.
  5. If needed, filter the related objects that are shown on the network graph.
    1. Click the Filter icon Filter icon to open the Filter pane.
    2. Click the icon or business object name to select (or clear) a business object type. For example, click Accounts to display (or not display) account business objects.
    3. Click the Close icon Close icon to close the Filter pane.
  6. Optional: Click Folder icon to restore the graph to the original size.

To view objects on the network graph timeline:

  1. Click the Restore Section icon Restore Section icon at the bottom of the network graph image to display the timeline. Then drag the timeline view horizontally to display a timeline of when these events occurred.

Clicking an object on the timeline opens the Details flyout for that object.

Tip: Filtering affects objects that are shown on both the network graph and timeline.
