You can view business objects for a given investigation
in a geospatial view and timeline. Viewing data in this way can reveal
relationships, patterns, and trends between objects that might not
be obvious in another form, such as a list.
About this task
Business objects related to an investigation are displayed
at their geospatial coordinates in the Map view. The Map view allows
you to view objects on a timeline, filter objects in the views, and
navigate to object details.Note: If a business object does not have
location information that is associated with it, it does not appear
on the map. Likewise, if an object does not have associated date/time
information, it does not appear on the timeline.
Procedure
To view objects on a map:
- From the In-Baskets page, click the row that is associated with an
investigation.
Note: By default, the Card view is displayed with all associated business objects displayed in the
card containers.
- Select the Map view to display a
geospatial view of the selected investigation. Notice that the map depicts geospatial coordinates for the object's actual location.
Note: To
adjust the size of the map and focus on a specific area, use the zoom icons

or click and drag the map to pan the view. Alternately, click the
Collapse
Section icon

on the horizontal bar to maximize space.
- Click an object on the map to reveal the Details flyout
panel. Notice that the object is also highlighted on the timeline
if it contains date/time information.
Tip: You
can also click the
Details icon
on the upper right to show and hide details of the objects you select.
- If needed, filter the related objects that are shown on
the map.
- Click the
Filter icon to open the
Filter pane.
- Click the icon or business object name to select (or
clear) a business object type. For example, click Accounts to
display (or not display) account business objects.
- Click the
Close icon
to close the Filter pane.
To view objects on the map timeline:
- Click the Restore Section icon
at the bottom of the map image to display the timeline. Then drag the timeline view
horizontally to display a timeline of when these events occurred. - The timeline shows a bar when time that is associated with an object is more than a single point
in time.
- Timeline objects are stacked in the view. Click and slide the view to see objects out of the
view range.
- Clicking an object on the timeline opens the Details flyout for that object.
Tip: Filtering affects objects that are shown on both the map and timeline.
