Redesigned Engineering Lifecycle Management product documentation

The hosting of Engineering Lifecycle Management documentation is redesigned in IBM® documentation. The following changes are made to the hosting of Engineering Lifecycle Management product documentation.

Export data dump feature is reinstated

The Export data dump feature is now reinstated for resources that are stored by using the 0.6 storage mechanism. It helps you to find sensitive data in a project and then redact the data by using the offline repotools command. The data is dumped in JSON format by using name-value pairs for all the relevant attributes of a resource.

Usability improvements in artifacts

  • When you copy one or more artifacts from the artifact grid or artifact viewer, the artifact information is now populated in the system clipboard along with the local storage.
  • When you hover over an artifact, the link information is now shown in a secondary panel. To view this information, click the Show More link. Links are only loaded when you click the Show More link, which reduces the time to show the initial hover.
  • You can now locate and restore missing artifact types, artifact attributes, and attribute data types. For more information, see Managing type inconsistencies across configurations.

Previously selected link types are available for selection

The previously selected link types are now considered when displaying the link type list. If the list contains a link type that was used earlier, the most recently used link type is preselected in the drop-down list. You can still select any of the other valid link types, which will then be remembered as the most recently used link type for future use.

Link validity improvements

  • A project administrator can now configure the custom attribute definitions that affect link validity. The Affects Link Validity checkbox is added to the Create New Attribute dialog box. When you edit requirements, the changes to only those attributes reset the link validity status. For more information, see Administering link validity in Engineering Lifecycle Management applications and Creating attributes for requirement artifacts.
  • You can now include link validity settings as part of project templates. If link validity is included in the template, the Show Link Validity setting from the original project area is applied during the template application.

Reporting

  • The default output format of Microsoft Word reports is .docx instead of .doc.

Modules

The expand and collapse capability within modules is now active for filtered modules that are not sorted. If an artifact's descendant hierarchy is incomplete due to filtering, the expand and collapse behavior is disabled for that artifact.

Improved performance of upgrade process

The performance of the upgrade process from 6.x versions to 7.x versions is now improved. It helps in reducing the time required to upgrade the user repositories.

Performance improvements

  • You can now experience improved performance of the following use cases:
    • View queries when the component includes a large number of item states.
    • Deliver and compare operations.
    • Finish-and-deliver stage of change set delivery.
    • Query artifacts with a large number of links for IBM DB2® database only.
    • Query from custom views with the filter that contains Link type exists and the Linked artifacts with selected artifact type.
    • Link creation on large-scale data sets.
    • Open views with many attributes and multiple values selected.
  • Reduction in the number of change sets that are automatically created during the bulk operations.
