What's included in your purchase of IBM Cloud Pak for Data Enterprise Edition Version 4.7?

Your purchase of IBM Cloud Pak for Data includes entitlement to:

IBM Cloud Pak for Data Enterprise Edition Version 4.7

IBM Cloud Pak for Data Enterprise Edition includes numerous services that you can use to extend the functionality of Cloud Pak for Data. The following services are included with your purchase of IBM Cloud Pak for Data Enterprise Edition:

AI services
Analytics services
Data governance services
Data source services
Developer tool services

Any Cloud Pak for Data services that are not in the preceding list require a separate license.

An IBM Cloud Pak for Data deployment can include a mix of deployed services. You can change the services that are deployed at any time as long you do not exceed your maximum Virtual Process Core (VPC) entitlement at any time.

Supporting offerings

Supporting offerings can be used only to support functionality that is included in IBM Cloud Pak for Data Enterprise Edition.

If there is a conflict of license terms, the license terms for IBM Cloud Pak for Data Enterprise Edition supersede the license terms of the supporting offerings.

IBM Cloud Pak for Data Enterprise Edition includes the following supporting offerings. You can use the supported offerings only within the specified terms of use:

Supporting offering Terms of use
IBM DataStage® Enterprise Cartridge for IBM Cloud Pak for Data The use of the IBM DataStage Enterprise Cartridge for IBM Cloud Pak for Data is limited to use in support of Watson Knowledge Catalog for creating, managing, and running data quality rules.
MANTA Automated Data Lineage for IBM Cloud Pak for Data The use of MANTA Automated Data Lineage for IBM Cloud Pak for Data is limited to the use of the scanning functionality in support of Watson Knowledge Catalog to import metadata from additional sources.
IBM Cognos® Analytics User Cartridge for IBM Cloud Pak for Data The use of the IBM Cognos Analytics User Cartridge for IBM Cloud Pak for Data is limited to use in support of Cognos Dashboards.

With purchase of IBM Cloud Pak for Data Enterprise Edition, you can have up to:

  • 5 Authorized Users of Cognos Analytics Users Cartridge
IBM Cognos Analytics Viewer Cartridge for IBM Cloud Pak for Data The use of the IBM Cognos Analytics Viewer Cartridge for IBM Cloud Pak for Data is limited to use in support of Cognos Dashboards.

With purchase of IBM Cloud Pak for Data Enterprise Edition, you can have up to:

  • 20 Authorized Users of Cognos Analytics Viewer Cartridge

When you deploy the supporting offerings under the IBM Cloud Pak for Data Enterprise Edition license, you must not exceed your maximum Virtual Process Core (VPC) entitlement at any time.

Important:
  • If you have a full offering, you can use your OpenShift® entitlement to deploy the supporting offerings.
  • If you have a reserved offering, you must have sufficient entitlement for the Red Hat® OpenShift Container Platform cores that are required to run the supporting programs.

Adding a cartridge to IBM Cloud Pak for Data Enterprise Edition

If you purchase an IBM Cloud Pak for Data cartridge, such as the DataStage Enterprise Plus Cartridge for IBM Cloud Pak for Data, in addition to IBM Cloud Pak for Data Enterprise Edition, you must have sufficient entitlement to run:

This is especially true if the service or services in the cartridge have a dependency on the IBM Cloud Pak for Data common core services. A cartridge includes entitlement to specific features in the common core services. If you install a service that is included in IBM Cloud Pak for Data Enterprise Edition and the service has a dependency on the common core services, the common core services are no longer a non-chargeable component. You must ensure that you account for the common core services in your maximum Virtual Process Core (VPC) entitlement.

Licensing metrics

Licensing for IBM Cloud Pak for Data Enterprise Edition is measured by Virtual Processor Core (VPC) use. You can purchase entitlement for different term lengths:
  • Perpetual license
  • Monthly license
  • Subscription license

Converting licensing metrics

In some situations, you might need to convert a portion of your VPCs to General Purpose Graphics Processing Units (GPGPUs) to support specific functionality.

The following table shows you the conversion ratio for VPC to GPGPU:

Service VPC to GPGPU ratio
Watson Machine Learning 1:1
Watson Machine Learning Accelerator 1:1
Watson OpenScale 1:1
Watson Studio 1:1

As long as you do not exceed your entitlement, the proportion of VPC and GPGPU in your deployment does not matter. You can adjust the proportions as needed.

OpenShift entitlement

Full offerings

Full offerings include 3 cores of OpenShift for every virtual processor core (VPC) of IBM Cloud Pak for Data.

Reserved offerings

Reserved offerings do not include OpenShift entitlement. Reserved offerings are provided to organizations that have an existing Red Hat OpenShift entitlement or plan to use their license only on public cloud environments with managed OpenShift. Prior IBM approval is required.

Reporting your use

You can use all of your entitlement on a single cluster or across multiple Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform clusters.

You are required to keep a record of the size of your deployments to report to IBM as requested. Use the IBM Cloud Pak foundational services License Service to track your VPC use and generate a report. For more information see Monitoring and reporting use against license terms.

Complete Monitoring and reporting use against license terms for each instance of IBM Cloud Pak for Data Enterprise Edition that you install to configure the License Service to report accurately on the VPC use for each cartridge, product, and service that is deployed on cluster.

The License Service aggregates the data from each instance of IBM Cloud Pak for Data Enterprise Edition on the cluster. Use report to compare your actual VPC use to your maximum VPC entitlement so that you don't exceed your entitlement.

For more information about the License Service, see IBM Cloud Platform License Service as used by deployments of IBM Cloud Pak for Data, see License usage metering and reporting in the IBM Cloud Pak foundational services documentation:
