All DFSMShsm hosts within an HSMplex must use the same translation technique. If a host detects an inconsistency in the translation technique, the detecting host immediately shuts down.

The new startup keyword RNAMEDSN specifies whether you want to keep the old translation technique or use the newer technique. The RNAMEDSN keyword directs DFSMShsm to perform the new translation technique.
