Managing vegetation
Use IBM® Maximo® Vegetation Management to understand and assess the state of vegetation across your entire service area. Identify assets that might be at risk or impacted by vegetation overgrowth.
The Maximo
Vegetation Management add-on is a
Maximo Manage add-on. The vegetation management process is the process of
controlling vegetation growth to maintain safety across various landscapes. Management of vegetation
is crucial in sectors like utilities, transportation, agriculture, conservation and can help to
prevent hazards such as power outages and invasive species spread. A vegetation management manager
or a vegetation management specialist oversees the vegetation management process. Use Maximo
Vegetation Management to obtain the following benefits.
- Complete asset visibility. View asset and vegetation information in 1 interface.
- Data-driven decisions. Use the KPIs to make data-driven decisions.
- Actionable insights. Act upon the vegetation score and priority score to improve vegetation management outcomes.

Maximo
Vegetation Management uses satellite data and analytics, and is configured
with a set of attributes and key performance indicators (KPIs). The output data is sent to the
following applications and pages within
Maximo Manage and
Maximo Health. Use the data in the following applications and pages to
complete your vegetation management responsibilities.

If integration updates are in a future release of Maximo Vegetation Management, you will need to upgrade to that future release or a future v9.1.x fix pack to continue getting the newer vegetation insights. The reference to integration updates relates to integration of asset and vegetation data from your vegetation insights database into Maximo Manage.
Before you begin
Before you can use Maximo
Vegetation Management, verify that the following
prerequisites are in place.
- For on-premises-customer-managed deployments, have your installation of Maximo Manage with Maximo Health.
- For SaaS environments, you environments must be ordered. In addition to your Maximo Application Suite as a Service and Maximo Manage environment, purchase Maximo Vegetation Management as a SaaS add-on for Maximo Manage. The SaaS Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) operations team must provision the SaaS environments.
- Maximo Spatial Asset Management. If you want to extend the capability of Maximo Manage applications and add other map functions, then install Maximo Spatial Asset Management. For more information, see Map Manager.
- SaaS customers and customer-managed customers must have Maximo Application Suite SaaS AppPoints.
- Data from remote sensing imaging or satellite data service.
