Operating environment
IBM Cloud Pak® for Integration requires a supported operating environment for installation.
Included environments
The following describes the supported operating environment for IBM Cloud Pak for Integration release 16.1.1:
Red Hat® OpenShift® Container Platform version 4.14, 4.15, 4.16, 4.17, or 4.18 * only.
* These operators are not supported on version 4.18: IBM API Connect, and IBM Aspera HSTS.
Before upgrading Red Hat OpenShift to 4.17 or 4.18, confirm that you have applied the latest fix pack for the 16.1.1 release to all operators and instances. For more information on applying fix packs, see Applying fix packs between major releases.
IBM Cloud Pak foundational services version 4.6 only, with the 4.6.8 or later fixpack.
For more information on supported architectures, see the "Supported architectures for operators" section that follows.
Multi-zone and single-zone deployments, where appropriate storage providers are available to support that deployment model
OpenShift cluster examples
Cloud Pak for Integration runs on any OpenShift environment. This includes, but is not limited to, the following cluster types:
- An OpenShift cluster that is deployed manually by using Installer Provisioned Infrastructure or User Provisioned Infrastructure
This can include either of the following:
Manual deployments on a cloud provider, such as IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. For storage requirements, see the Red Hat documentation for the applicable cloud provider.
Other deployments, including on-premise. For information on storage requirements, see Storage considerations.
- A single-node OpenShift cluster
For more information, see Installing on a single node OpenShift (SNO) cluster.
- An OpenShift cluster that uses Red Hat OpenShift hosted control planes
This type of cluster can include, but is not limited to, Red Hat® OpenShift® Service on AWS (ROSA) with hosted control planes.
- A managed OpenShift cluster from a cloud provider, such as IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
For more information, see the following:
IBM Cloud - Getting started with Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud, in the IBM Cloud documentation
AWS/ROSA - Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS quick start guide, in the OpenShift documentation. For more information on the schedule for OpenShift Container Platform versions supported by OpenShift on AWS, see "Life cycle dates" in Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS update life cycle.
Azure - Create an Azure Red Hat OpenShift 4 cluster, in the Azure documentation
Google Cloud - Red Hat OpenShift Dedicated, in the Google Cloud documentation
Excluded environments
IBM Cloud Pak for Integration is not available in other environments, such as Docker or open-source Kubernetes distributions.
Cloud Pak for Integration does not support installing on an OpenShift cluster with multi-architecture compute machines.
