Quick Start Guide

This guide describes a quick and easy way to install Jazz™ for Service Management.

Offering overview

Jazz for Service Management brings together the Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration (OSLC) community's open specifications for linking data and other shared integration services, including administrative, reporting, security, and visualization services. Use this guide to perform a full installation of Jazz for Service Management Base and its cumulative modifications, integration services, DB2®, and WebSphere® Application Server on a single server for evaluation and development purposes. Jazz for Service Management includes the following integration services: Administration Services, Dashboard Application Services Hub, Registry Services, Security Services, and Reporting Services. Step 1: Access the software and documentation

Use this document to install Jazz for Service Management by using the offering DVDs. If you download the offering installation and update media from IBM Passport Advantage®, see http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24040467.

This offering provides a Quick Start Guide DVD and installation and update media for the AIX®, Linux, Linux for System z®, and Windows platforms.

Note: Filenames of the installation images vary slightly depending on the platform, but they do adhere to the following naming conventions:

  1. Mount, or copy and extract the contents of the installation media for Jazz for Service Management to your local server, referred to as the JazzSM_Image_Home directory.
    Tip: Ensure that the path to JazzSM_Image_Home does not contain any spaces or special characters.
  2. Copy and extract the contents of the platform-specific installation and update media for the following software to a common root directory on your local server, referred to as the Install_Imgs_Home directory:
    • IBM DB2 - Note that a full installation fails if DB2 is already installed on your local server.
    • IBM WebSphere Application Server
    • IBM Cognos®

    The Install_Imgs_Home directory structure is as follows:

    Install_Imgs_Home
    	|-ESE (Windows)	[extracted DB2 installation image on Windows]
    	|-ese (UNIX)  [extracted DB2 installation image on AIX, Linux, or Linux for System z]
    	|-TCRCognosImage	[extracted IBM Cognos 10.2.1.7 installation image]
    	|-WASRepository	[extracted WebSphere Application Server installation image]

Step 2: Evaluate the hardware and system configuration

Jazz for Service Management has hardware and software requirements. For the full list of supported middleware, operating systems, browsers, libraries, and so on, see Hardware and software requirements.

Step 3: Perform a full installation using the Installation Manager GUI

IBM Installation Manager is a single installation program that can use local software flat-file repositories to install, modify, update, or uninstall Jazz for Service Management integration services. It can determine and show the available software packages—including products, fix packs, interim fixes, and so on—checks the prerequisites and interdependencies, and install the selected packages.
  1. Start Installation Manager in GUI mode:
    • Windows operating systemsAs an administrator on systems running Windows, browse to the C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Installation Manager\eclipse directory and double-click IBMIM.
    • Windows operating systemsAs a non-administrator on systems running Windows, browse to the C:\Users\user_name\IBM\Installation Manager\eclipse directory and double-click IBMIM.
    • Operating systems such as UNIXAs root on UNIX based systems, at the command line, open the /opt/IBM/InstallationManager/eclipse directory and run ./IBMIM.
    • Operating systems such as UNIXAs a non-root user on UNIX based systems, at the command line, open the /user_home_directory/IBM/InstallationManager/eclipse directory and run ./IBMIM.
  2. Select File > Preferences and in the Preferences > Repositories panel, click Add Repository.
  3. Click Browse and browse to the following location and files:
    • JazzSM_Image_Home/JazzSMRepository/disk1/diskTag.inf
    • JazzSM_Image_Home/WASRepository/disk1/diskTag.inf
  4. Click OK and click OK again to close the Preferences > Repositories panel.
  5. Click Install to proceed with the installation.

Step 4: Alternatively, perform a full installation using the launchpad

Instead of using the Installation Manager GUI, you can install Jazz for Service Management using the launchpad, whereby, you can use the launchpad to run Prerequisite Scanner to scan your environment for prerequisites and then perform a full installation.

The full installation installs DB2, WebSphere Application Server, IBM Cognos and Jazz for Service Management integration services. It also installs IBM Installation Manager.

Tip: Your target system must have a browser installed, so that you can run the launchpad. If it does not, use the Installation Manager GUI.
  1. Start the launchpad.
    On Windows systems
    Browse to the JazzSM_Image_Home directory. If you require administrative privileges to install a component, right-click launchpad64.exe and select Run as Administrator; otherwise, double-click launchpad64.exe.
    On UNIX systems
    In a command window, change to the JazzSM_Image_Home directory and run ./launchpad.sh.
  2. Click Full Install.
    Attention: The launchpad checks whether any component is already installed in the target environment. If any component is already installed, you cannot continue with the full installation. You must do a custom installation.
  3. Review and accept the software license agreements in the Software License Agreement panel; click Next.
  4. In the Installation images home field, specify the location of the Install_Imgs_Home directory.
  5. Click Next. The Prerequisite Scan panel opens.
  6. Click Scan to run Prerequisite Scanner and scan your environment for the Jazz for Service Management requirements.
  7. Click Next. The Basic Settings panel opens. All fields are required in the Basic Settings panel. Accept the default values or specify valid ones. Use the hover help for guidance.
  8. Click Next. The Installation Summary panel opens.
  9. Click Install to proceed with the installation.
