Troubleshooting Business Flow Manager and Human Task Manager API timeouts
Learn how to solve problems relating to timeout situations that might occur when you use Business Flow Manager (BFM) or Human Task Manager (HTM) APIs.
About this task
Note: Because Business Process Choreographer (BPC) Explorer also uses these APIs, you can also use
the following troubleshooting tips for timeouts that occur when you use BPC Explorer.
Most API operations are affected by how up to date the shared work item index tables are in IBM® Business Automation Workflow. Outdated indexes often cause database queries to take a long time, which often time out in various unrelated components (such as BPEL, HTM, BFM, SCA, and BPC Explorer).
To avoid these timeouts
- Ensure that the database administrator performs regular database RUNSTAT or REORG jobs to keep the indexes up to date.
- Verify that the built-in cleanup procedures for shared work items are configured properly. For
more information, see the
Shared work items
section of Cleanup procedures for Business Process Choreographer for more information. - Check that essential interim fixes are applied by using the genVersionReport command. For more information, see Product version and history information. If this issue is occurring, you might not have APAR JR62994 installed. APAR JR62994 ensures that the early exit criteria is not only logged but is also enforced in the cleanup job processing.
