Personalization workflow

Detailed workflow for completing the prerequisites, setting up and registering your channel for personalization, and creating and publishing a rule in Acoustic Personalization.

Acoustic Personalization workflow

Step 1: Subscribe to Acoustic Personalization

Request to provision for a trial account or a paid account for Acoustic Personalization, and provision the required users. For more information, see User Provisioning

Step 2: Complete the prerequisites
  1. For the system requirements, such as supported web browsers, see System requirements for Acoustic Personalization
  2. For the prerequisites, such as access privileges, see Prerequisites for Acoustic Personalization
  3. Ensure that the channel is configured with a tagging and analytics library (such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, or IBM Digital Analytics) for collecting user behavior for the supported events that are used for creating rules for personalization.
  4. Configure Acoustic Exchange and Acoustic Exchange Capture.

Step 3:  Set up your channel for personalization
  1. Ensure that the channel (website) you want to personalize is either a Single-Page Application (SPA), a Multi-Page Application (MPA), or a simple HTML site (Native App).
  2. If the channel to be personalized is a dynamic website or a Single-Page Application (SPA), deploy the Personalization Library from Artifactory. For more information, see Installing the Personalization Library
  3. Ensure that the website has predefined zones and each zone is uniquely identified by a Zone ID.
  4. Configure the zones you want to personalize in Acoustic Personalization. For more information, see Configuring the zones for personalization
    • If required, configure the zones to capture the click events, so as to track the effectiveness of your personalized content. For more information, see Capturing click events on zones
    • If required, configure the zones to use geolocation, which enables you to display personalized content based on the visitor's geographical location. For more information, see Setting up geolocation-based personalization
  5. Ensure that the website has a rendering engine to render (display) the personalized content returned by Acoustic Personalization.
Step 4: Register the channel in Acoustic Personalization
  1. Create a new channel by providing the channel name, channel type, and content management system details.
  2. Configure a content management system (CMS).
  3. Register the zones by providing zone name, zone description, and Zone ID.

Step 5: Create the segments

Create and manage the segments required for the rule. For more information, see Managing the Segments

Step 6: Create and publish rules
Create and publish the rules based on the personalization type you need. You can create a rule for: For more information, see their respective sections in this Knowledge Center.
Step 7: View the personalization on your channel

Acoustic Personalization monitors the user behavior on your channel (website) and evaluates the rules in the same sequence as they are listed. Based on the rules, the relevant personalized content is shown on the zone in the website. If no rules match the user behavior, then the default content as decided by the channel is displayed. You can also monitor the effectiveness of personalization by viewing the performance reports for the rules. For more information, see Performance reports for the rules
