Remove the device enclosure from a model 51x, 710, and 9110-51A

You might need to remove the device enclosure from the server. Use the procedure in this section to perform this task.

To remove the device enclosure, complete the following procedure:

  1. Perform the prerequisite tasks described in Before you begin.
  2. Stop the system. Refer to Stop the system or logical partition.
  3. Disconnect the power source from the system by unplugging the system.
    Note: This system may be equipped with a second power supply. Before continuing with this procedure, ensure that the power source to the system is completely disconnected.
  4. Remove the front cover. Refer to Remove the front cover from the model 51x or 710.
  5. Remove the media device.
  6. Locate the blue, plastic, slide tabs A on both sides of the device enclosure.
  7. Pull the tabs A out from the system. This releases the device enclosure.
  8. Pull the device enclosure out of the system.

  9. If you are removing the device enclosure as part of another procedure, return to that procedure now.
  10. Replace the device enclosure. Refer to Replace the device enclosure in a model 51x, 710, and 9110-51A.
