Changing consoles
You can change the console that you are using to manage the IBM® i operating system for certain systems management functions.
Note: You might need to perform an initial program load (IPL) on the system or logical partition,
and manually delete the existing IBM i console device and
controller resource for the following changes:
- Changing the 24x80 display model to a 27x132 display model.
- Changing the system or logical partition from a single byte to a double-byte or from a double-byte to a single byte
Changing consoles requires careful attention to the procedures to avoid unwanted results. The procedure that you need to follow depends on whether your managed system is powered off or powered on.
