Neodydium. This rare earth element comes frequently to my mind on these summer days as both the grass in our yard increases…along with the hours my husband spends on the golf course. Neodydium was introduced to me years ago while leading a development project bringing together two major corporations, focused on creating a technically superior golf sunglass. As a key component of the innovative lens coating, Neodydium enabled the variations of the green to ‘pop’ out to the golfer, and gave me the incredible opportunity to lead a team of highly motivated individuals to a very successful product delivery.
Over the years, I have had many other wonderful opportunities like this at IBM to work with dedicated teams of individuals, including the amazing Maximo report development team who delivered numerous, diverse, strong reporting features in the 7.5 release.
I’ve also had the opportunity to work with many fantastic clients, including our recent Pulse 2012 conference, where Harold from Ford, Jason from Davisco, and one of our business partners, Sunil, detailed how they utilized Maximo reporting in their unique environments. Harold and Sunil also provided additional information at the recent Maximo Manufacturing User Group meeting, while Jason also presented his Ad Hoc reporting knowledge here. Their willingness to share and provide detailed insight on their report customizations has greatly benefited all who were able to hear them.
And today, I want to share with you another way in which we can work together as a team in the SMC Maximo Reporting Community. This community has been spurred by a number of report customizations that many of you have shared with me – and that I want to also share thru the entire Maximo Reporting Community.
Within the Maximo Reporting Community, you can find a number of items including
Bookmarks: Enable quick, direct links to commonly accessed Maximo reporting links
Message Board: Post information to communicate on a wide variety of reporting topics
Files: Store files for any member of the report community to access – at any time
Blog: Share information with others by creating a blog entry
Members: View and email other key members of the Maximo Report Community
One goal of this community is to enable all members to share report customizations with each other. These customizations are intended to share information among the Maximo reporting community so you can (1) streamline your report development time and (2) learn from each other. Please note that these customizations are not delivered or supported by IBM – but the hope is if there is significant activity around certain customization features, IBM will work to roll those features into future releases.
To kick this effort off, two new customizations have been posted in the Files section by two exceptional individuals. The first has been shared by Ajay in which he details how you can enable radio buttons on report request pages. And the second customization is brought to us by Louis, where he shares a custom PM Forecasting report.
Please join the Maximo reporting community, and help us grow this into an active repository of customization features that can benefit everyone. Thank you, and if you have any questions, please contact me thru the community or at email@example.com
