    We are trying to do the same and get the exact same error. These are the steps ;

Installed WAS 7.0.0.0 fix pack 23
    Installed WCS 7.0.0.0 Server.
    Installed DB2 9.5.0.4 - 32 bit.

All on one node. And then tried to create WCS instance during which we get the error!

    Any help would be appreciated.

Check if the DB2 services are up and try connecting to it. Assuming this as an issue on runtime environment, the below link may help you on this.

Ok, here are the steps I followed:

I downloaded the media images that appear on this link http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wchelp/v7r0m0/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.commerce.install.doc%2Frefs%2Frigbackuppak.htm

I am on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit VMWare

I first installed CZ7Q1ML IBM WebSphere Commerce V7.0 - DB2 Enterprise Server Edition V9.5 for Windows on 32-bit AMD and Intel systems (x86) Multilingual and created the sample database with no problem (I disabled OS administrative security)

I then installed CZ7QIML IBM WebSphere Commerce V7.0 - WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment, IHS, WebServer plugin, migration tools V7.0.0.3 (32-bit) Windows Multilingual only WAS and ran the verify tool it was OK.

Finally I installed CZ6CDML IBM WebSphere Commerce V7.0 - WebSphere Commerce Enterprise V7.0 for Multiplatform Multilingual and installed IHS from here with a custom install and used the OS credentials for the DB config part.

It was ok apparently no errors, then I tried to create an instance and came up with these errors.

DB2 is up and WAS is using a standalone server profile.

    That's great.
Did the same set of above steps work on Windows 2008 Server ? Did you have any problem with Installation Manager version during the install ?

    Thanks

No problem at all, though the steps were slightly different, I installed Websphere Commerce and had it ask for the disks and it created the instance automatically all fine. Now when I installed Websphere Commerce Developer and launched it didn't have any projects loaded, the workspace is empty even though I deployed a Madisons store correctly, how to visualize the projects in the workspace? Is there a guide for that?

    Thanks.

    Sometimes that happens,

Try restarting the Developer(RAD). If not, then
just you can add the projects from <WCS_Install_dir>(C:\IBM\WCDE_ENT70)\workspace this directory to your workspace.

    Hi,

We faced the similar issue while creating instance on Windows 7 x64. We could solve it by creating a new DB2 database and suggested tablespaces (from ). Then the existing database could be configured to create the commerce instance.

    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wchelp/v5r6/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.commerce.esupport.doc/html/Configuration/swg21200714.html
But we hit a roadblock with MassLoad ,although the instance creation works fine .Get the following exception :

    jcc1016510044http://4.3.111 Invalid database URL syntax: jdbc:db2://:0/WCSDEMO. ERRORCODE=-4461, SQLSTATE=42815

The solution was straight forward - installed the WCS server in windows 2008 server (standard edition r2 ) and it worked like a charm.

Install only on a Windows server installation , even the infocenter recommends the same . Do not waste time on win 7.

    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wchelp/v7r0m0/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.commerce.install.doc%2Frefs%2Frigsrvswprereqwin.htm

in win 2008 server we could do all installation using the commerce install wizard (including the Db2)
