Pinned topic How to login into a Linux instance?

‏2012-05-06T17:56:08Z |
I have created a virtual system pattern instances based on the CoreOS pattern (RHEL 5.5). From the SCE console I can see that a dedicated security key was created for the corresponding virtual server instance, however I don't see how I can get access to the private key to ssh into the instance.

How can I login into the instance I have created? Thanks!

    Follow-up question.

Do you know which version of the Beta drop are you using 1,2 or 3? The version determines the practice.

I'm using SCAWS with the following build string in the bottom right of the dashboard:
      3.1.0.0-20120315231425 / 20120315-2312-624

Not sure which Beta drop this is.

That is Drop 2. You don't have the ssh functionality built-in with your current beta level, but there is a scripting workaround that can provide you with access to the instance.

I will uploaded the script (addkey.sh) and then the PDF instructions, please review them carefully.

In a few days, a new version of SmartCloud Application Workload Service labeled Beta Drop 3 will become available. Any instance created with this new version of the code will allow SSH access without requiring the script package. The work around described by Rich above is really just applicable to version ID 3.1.0.0-20120315231425 / 20120315-2312-624.

    Best Regards,
