I just installed 10.1 custom install to test my app against the new version, but now I am unable to start DB2 at all.
The db2diag.log file says ECF_LIB_CANNOT_LOAD
When I look at my file system I don't have a
directory at all.
(Note that I specified ..\IBM\DB2_10.1' as my DB2 root directory instead of '..\IBM\SQLLIB' or whatever it normally is)
There are a bunch of 'gsk8*' files in a
directory; but not the file that it is looking for.
My guess is that I told it not to install something that is required.
(I'm suprised it allowed me to do that)
Any ideas what it is I am missing?
The one thing I did tell it not to install was the 'Secure Shell' (SSH) - as the dialog said that was for remote access and I dont plan to allow any remote access.

Re: Unable to start DB2 Express 10.1 (gsk8iccs.dll missing)2012-05-02T19:15:25Z in response to MikeDempseyI had a similar issue when I first installed. Had to reboot after a db2stop as it would not release the file as you stated. Now however it seems to have come right. I can do a db2stop followed by a db2start without issue, but after first installation that was possible.

Re: Unable to start DB2 Express 10.1 (gsk8iccs.dll missing)2012-05-02T20:24:32Z in response to p175I had tried rebooting my system but that did not help.
However I used the Modify option of Install to rerun the install - adding SSH just in case it was required - and after that completed everything worked fine.

Re: Unable to start DB2 Express 10.1 (gsk8iccs.dll missing)2012-06-06T20:18:00Z in response to MikeDempseyI'm having the same problem but have uninstalled / reinstalled half a dozen times with no success. Each time the installation was successful.
This is on Windows XP Pro SP3 32-bit installing DB2 Express-C 10.1. I installed the 64-bit version on Windows 7 with no problem.
This is the error in db2diag.log:

Re: Unable to start DB2 Express 10.1 (gsk8iccs.dll missing)2012-07-25T19:26:47Z in response to DavidWAdlerAnother user on this forum reported this problem and posted a workaround.
I also experienced the same symptom (but using v10.1 DB2 Advanced Enterprised Edition) on Win32.
The workaround is to copy the \program files\ibm\gsk8\lib tree (and all its sub-directories) to the \program files\ibm\sqllib\bin\icc tree.
The db2 instance then started correctly for me.

Using REGEDIT.EXE , navigate to
That subkey should show a few sub-keys in the right hand side pane like this:
If you see that the value of "Current" is different from 0x00000001(1) and you get the gsk8iccs.dll ECF_LIB_CANNOT_LOAD symptom, please post here the value of the "Current" key (it might be higher than 1).
