Had a question this week from someone who had downloaded the IBM HPC Open Source Software Stack. He wanted to know how to setup and run the benchmark "HPC Challenge" on a small cluster of Power systems. HPC Challenge is a nice set of programs which measure several aspects of cluster performance and interconnects.
We pointed him to Using HPC Challenge on RHEL 5.2 which is hosted on HPC Central.
One of the key advantages to the IBM HPC Open Source Software Stack is it nicely installs many of the cluster software products (and pre-reqs) you may need. For running HPC Challenge, not all of the pieces of the software stack are needed, but having them installed is nice for the next steps and additional workloads that might be tested later.
