Pinned topic Migrating from tWAS 8.0 to WAS Liberty 8.5

‏2013-10-22T11:47:18Z |

Hi,

I was wondering if the WebSphere Application Server Migration Toolkit also covers migrations from tWAS 8.0 to WAS Liberty 8.5?

e.g. does it highlight when an application does use WAS implementation classes, e.g. AspectJ provided by the JPA implementation ({WASHOME}\plugins\com.ibm.ws.jpa.jar) and not just rely on the WAS API or the API of the implemented specifications?
http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/wasinfo/v8r0/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.websphere.nd.doc%2Finfo%2Fae%2Fae%2Fwelc_ref_adm_pi.html

This would allow developers to asses the impact of a migration, e.g. if third-party libraries need to be introduced etc.

Thanks,
Michael

    Hi Michael,

The WebSphere Application Server Migration Toolkit does not have a feature specific to the tWas to Liberty migration scenario.

Submitting a WebSphere request for enhancement (RFE) is the best way to make this request for functionality.  You can submit an RFE at https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/?BRAND_ID=181.

    Thanks,
    Cindy

    Hi Michael,

Today we have just released the WebSphere Application Server Migration Toolkit - Liberty Tech Preview.

It will help move applications from WebSphere full profile to the Liberty profile and to the cloud.

You can get the latest from WASdev.
